INDEPENDENCE




In the late eighteenth century rebellions erupted several indepentistas led by indigenous and mestizos in Upper Peru (now Bolivia). Most important were the brothers Damaso warlords and Nicolas Katari, alongside Julian Apaza (Tupac Katari).


In 1809 he formed the Boards of Governors of Chuquisaca and La Paz. Its main independence leader Pedro Domingo Murillo was an illustrated Creole who was captured and hanged in 1810.

Between 1811 and 1815 came to Upper Peru Argentine expeditions led by José Castelli, Manuel Belgrano and José Rondeau. They tried to expel the Spanish to integrate the territory to the United Provinces of the River Plate. After bloody fighting forces were defeated by the Viceroy of Peru Fernando de Abascal.

After defeat the Viceroy of Peru José de la Serna in the Battle of Ayacucho (December 9, 1824), the Venezuelan General Antonio José de Sucre came to Upper Peru to face Antonio Olaneta realistic, but he had been killed by his men in Tumusla Mutiny. Then Congress Chuquisaca met the August 6, 1825 proclaimed the Independence of Bolivia.



CURRENT PRESIDENT



Bolivia is a Social Unitary State of Plurinational Communitarian Law, free, independent, sovereign, democratic, intercultural, decentralized and autonomous. Bolivia is based on the plurality and political, economic, legal, cultural and linguistic integration process within the country. Article 1 C.P.E.

It's a presidential State.
